In today’s world, it’s the norm to be stressed and anxious pretty much all the time.
As Christians, we are told to give it to God and let go.
Philippians 4:6-7 in the Bible says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”. Easy right? Well not really.
So how do we give it to God and let go?
- Pray, as Philippians 4:6 says: by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. God knows our needs and desires before we even ask but by talking to him and asking we are strengthening our closeness to him and that’s what he desires of us. He wants a relationship with us.
- Listen to and even better sing along with Christian music. Psalm 95:1-6
- “Sing joyful songs to the LORD! Praise the mighty rock where we are safe. Come to worship him with thankful hearts and songs of praise.”
- List your blessings. In today’s world, it can be so easy to forget how blessed we are. You can simply say how you are blessed out loud to yourself if needed or even better, write it down. By the time you are done, I’m going to bet you will be in a grateful state of mind and see the world differently. Even better make it a habit to write down the ways you are blessed and see how it changes your outlook overall!
- Talk to a trusted and Godly friend about it. Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ”.
All of these are good ways to give your worries to God and leave them at his feet. Being human you will likely try to pick them up again. If you do, most importantly give yourself grace. You are human you know, Then use the tools above to hand it back to him. The more you do the better you will get at giving it to him and truly letting go.
Always remember, You are loved, You are chosen and You are never alone!
