Lessons From The Book Of Joshua

L

Recently a Sunday school series was on the book of Joshua. It was about having faith in what God has asked of you and doing it his way.

In John 6, God told his people to march around Jericho,1 time each day, with not a word spoken, and seven priests carrying seven ram’s horn trumpets in front of the ark. He told them to do this for 6 days.  On the 7th day, they would march around 7 times while sounding the horns.  When they finished the last lap around a prolonged note was to be played and all were to shout. At the shout, the city walls would collapse and each man advance straight ahead to capture the city.

Our brain can’t imagine how this is going to work, but Proverbs 3: 5-6 say Trust the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

What our brains can’t understand our hearts know is true and God will make a way if we step out in faith. As Philippians 4:13 reminds us. “I can do all things THROUGH Christ who strengthens me”

What About you? Would you follow God’s instructions without question? Would you worry about what others would think? would you decide that you had a better or faster way?

We all want to say that of course we would listen to what God leads us to and never question HOW he is asking us to do it but as we are all human it doesn’t always happen that way.

What can you do today to help you remember who goes before you and that no matter what he asks you to do or if you think it’s the best way, to follow?

Always remember You are loved You are chosen and You are never alone
